“We recently completed a major home renovation project with the Colclough Construction team, where we brought our house down to the studs, and rebuilt. The project took almost a year from start to finish. Seemingly unlike most major home renovations or new construction, our process was smooth and almost entirely stress free. We have Steve and his entire team to thank for such a wonderful experience. Unprovoked, I have had multiple people through family, friends, a plumber, a home security expert, the list goes on… tell me that “the Colcloughs are the best” – and when they say the best, of course they mean they produce a wonderful product, but more so that they are stand-up, honest people who operate with high integrity. My wife and I feel so fortunate that the Colclough team was available when we put our project out for bid and that they wanted to work with us.
Read More...The final cost of the project was right in line with expectations and the initial bid that we discussed. Any “one-offs” that did arise were easily resolved by simply having an open and honest discussion with Steve. There were a few instances during the project where my wife and I changed our mind and called an audible relative to the initial plans (a few of which were significant!) and again Steve was very flexible and accommodating.
He would assess the situation and get back to us with a range of viable options so that we could make a decision and quickly move forward, keeping the project timeline intact. We also loved the architect that we worked with, Sally Weston. Steve and the team did a great job working with her, masterfully executing the exact vision she presented to us at the outset. I can’t imagine a contractor working better with an architect, and it is my own uninformed opinion that this collaboration is what turns good plans into a GREAT final product. Lastly, Steve and his crew worked extremely hard. Friends and family of ours who would drive by, always commented on how hard the team was working.
I should also say we are very pleased with the final product. Everything came out even better than our lofty expectations, and frankly, we still wake up every day and feel fortunate that we get to live in such a beautiful house. All the fine details and finish carpentry came out phenomenal and I think that is really what makes the house. There was zero “cutting of corners” on the project. Steve even walked through the house near the end of the project himself, and saw something a little off that frankly I wouldn’t even have noticed and said “that’s not what we’re about” – and had it fixed right away. The entire team pays attention to and cares immensely about every little detail. Practically speaking, everything in our house works great. We have had a few small issues in the first year, but in each case, we have reached out to Steve, and it almost feels like someone showed up at our house to resolve the issue before we hung up the phone.
Overall, I can’t say enough about the entire team and our experience. I sincerely hope I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to build another house someday and I would 100% hope to work with Steve and his team again. They are everything you could ask for in a contractor: Honest, open, accurate, on time, Red Sox fans, and they produce a phenomenal product.”
